It wasn’t too warm nor too cold. There was a light wind blowing through the willow trees. Kirsten gazed at Mitch as she held his hands in hers. She was either listening very intently to her Uncle who was marrying them or she wasn’t listening at all. She closed her eyes, too long to be a blink, not long enough to lose sight of Mitch and as she opened her eyes his closed the same way. She looked down then, and he did too. Almost like they were speaking in a secret code. Like there were no words left to say or they simply didn’t need them anymore.
Kirsten’s eyes glitter when she looks at Mitch. And Mitch’s natural expression, one of solemnity and deep thought, melts away when Kirsten engages him. Then he’ll lightly touch the delicate part of her wrist to bring her closer, kiss her hand, and they’ll laugh and be completely content in each other’s presence.
It was so wonderful to see the two of you together. Thank you, thank you – for letting me into such a special, intimate day in your lives. And a big thank you to your wonderful, kind families and friends who made me feel at home and cracked me up all night. You have so much to look forward to in this wide open future together. Here’s to a beautiful start.
