When Sadie and her family chose me to be their photographer for this BIG moment in Sadie’s life I was so thrilled! I had the chance to work with them for their son Eli’s bar mitzvah three years ago and I fell in love with their family. They’re kind and creative and down to earth and love each other so, so much it’s heartwarming. Being in their presence makes me miss my own family who live 3,000 miles away. And seeing Sadie with her brother who is also one of her best friends makes me nostalgic about my own adventures with my brother growing up. So needless to say, I loved getting to be a part of this time in their lives and feel like a little adopted family member for the day.
So speaking of creative, Sadie and her mother, Stefanie came up with such an amazing theme for the event. Camping! Sadie has been a long time summer camper so it was a perfect fit for her and their vision translated into such a fun and unique event! The reception was held at Green Acre here in San Diego. They brought in a rock wall, ping pong tables, giant jenga, spin art, cornhole and ladder ball, and the coolest green screen set up I’ve ever seen. The food was amazing and just when you thought they had outdone themselves, they treated their guests to a performance by the National Comedy Theater after lunch. They were an absolute hoot and did a great job involving the audience in their performance.
Sadie, Stefanie, Joel, Eli, thank you again for opening your arms to me and allowing me to be there with you and document this very special part of your lives. I’m super grateful.
I just had to include this side by side image. On the left is a jumping photo we took three years ago at Eli’s Bar Mitzvah. The photo on the right is from Sadie’s, this August.
